Work Experience

I was incredibly fortunate to gain experience in the industry as a camera operator in sports and interviews and as a runner for the BBC. These experiences has taught me so much about the industry and has made even more passionate about working in the industry.

 

Progressive Broadcast Hire - During my time at Progressive, I learned a lot about the industry and all the prep that goes into it. I was amazed at all of the equipment that they carried. I got familiar with the kit and packed it for companies like STV, and went on deliveries with Brian around Glasgow to drop of kit for productions. I also learned how to look after equipment and check for damage on returned equipment. On top learning the kit, I got to get hands on the Arri Alexa Mini LF and Sony FX7s.

Runner for BBC Scotland Karen Dunbar Live at Ayr Town Hall - As a runner for the BBC I was tasked with shadowing one of the camera operators and helping him with getting spare batteries, formatting SD cards before the big event. I was also tasked with collecting the dinner for the whole crew. During my time, I learned what it's like to work with a big production team and have expanded my knowledge in the live events area of the industry.

Camera Operator for One Ren - As one of the camera operators for One Ren, I was tasked with filming an interview with Claire about her job role and why she likes doing it. Throughout my experience I was not only the camera op, I was the director which taught me patience with outside distractions like sounds of traffic and people so they don't pick up over the microphone and also to be patient with the crew and in general.

Camera Operator for North Ayrshire Wilds Ice Hockey Team - During my time as the camera operator for North Ayrshire Wilds I gathered the experience what it's like to film a fast paced sport.

Ayr United Football Team - As my on going time at Ayr United has taught me even more about sport videography with tracking the ball and players with a more wider shot on the camera compared to the close up shots of ice hockey.

Set Designer and Camera Operator for UWS X Ayr United Interviews - As part of my course at UWS I was part of the teams that did interviews with the Ayr United team where I learned to be part of a studio team and how to work studio cameras.
